Panasonic introduced the Real Pro Ultra Massage Chair during the Summer of 2013 and with heated massage rollers. We tested the Real Pro Ultra for approximately 2 months in a variety of modes and with a variety of users and we found the heated massage rollers to be a real game changer. The chair comes standard with a variety of pre-set modes to get the user up and running very quickly.

During our review we focused on a wide array of disabilities from chronic illnesses like Diabetes, Arthritis, to MS, Parkinson’s, ALS, Muscular Dystrophy, IPF, PTSD and many more. All of which can benefit from regular massage therapy and many of which can’t easily get outside on a consistent basis to get a traditional massage. Because the Real Pro Ultra with heated massage rollers addresses the users neck down to their feet and can be programmed to address multiple or specific troubled areas it can be very beneficial for a disabled individual.

Anyone that has to sit in a wheelchair or a power wheelchair for long periods of time, needing their muscles massaged regularly or someone who could benefit from increased blood flow can recognize immediate benefits from using the Real Pro Ultra on a regular basis. The chair provides immediate pain, tension relief, improved blood flow and circulation. The interface for interacting with the chair is very straight forward and user friendly for anyone to use including a caregiver.

Unlike a traditional massage where you drive to a business to have a massage given to you by a regular masseuse or not having a dedicated solution that you know will provide you with a great massage every time is beneficial. Disabled individuals can find it difficult to drive to a business on a regular basis. If they are sitting for long periods of time the areas of their body that are most likely impacted are the same areas a zero gravity massage chair, like the Real Pro Ultra, can treat.

Panasonic recommends that you DO NOT operate the Real Pro Ultra with their Comfort Cushion over the massage rollers. They DO recommend the use of a towel or pad be used between the massage rollers and the massage chair user. We recommend trying a large beach towel and folding it into 3 over lapping parts and using it as a pad. Also, be sure to read the manual prior to using the massage chair so that you understand how to lower the massage roller intensity before using the chair.

For many months prior to our review of the Real Pro Ultra we looked at over a dozen different massage chairs from different manufactures and specifically at their warranty. We felt the warranty needed to be from an established manufacture and include parts and labor for a multi-year period. Our driving motivation for this is like an automobile has a lot of moving parts so does a massage chair and they can breakdown over time or immediately. The Real Pro Ultra offers a 3 year parts and labor warranty.

We did not review any massage chairs that incorporated audio integration with speakers because we felt they did not add much value. We felt consumers have an endless amount of audio sources available to them today of which they likely already own and enjoy.

If you have a prescriptive need for a massage and a device that meets that criteria the Real Pro Ultra may qualify as a medical tax write off.
